AVIS and AUTOEUROPE Complaints - refusing to give a me refund

on the 5th of june this year i traveled to home town ,in Mpumalanga ,schoemansdal. i decided to rent a car online from avis through their agent called rental car group which i came to find out when i received the voucher that it is auto europe.
i had previously purchased airline tickets from cape town to Johannesburg with my bank card . at the check-ins my card was accepted the same as a credit card so i assumed with Avis it would be the same.
on the 6th of june i got to the pick up point which was Malelane TSB airport in Mpumalanga ,i was told i could not take the car with my card they only accepted credit cards and that the booking would be canceled immediately .they also told me that i could just call auto europe confirm confirm the cancellation and get my refund and that where my nightmare started.
Autoeurope customer service agents told me i could not get a refund because firstly i was supposed to cancel the booking within 48 hours after making the booking which i did by AVIS the very next day after making the reservation. meaning Avis did not communicate the cancellation to them.second since on their terms and condition it states that i have to have the credit card i reserved with. they accepted to take my money with my debit card in the first place. they also told me that since they are only an agent and the booking was not canceled by them i should get my refund from AVIS.
AVIS on the other hand says i have to get my refund from auto europe because i booked with them
